Founded in 2010, &tradition is a Danish design company with a founding principle of tying tradition to innovation. Their unique library of furniture and lighting spans from the 1930s to the present, and includes designs by internationally renowned designers. The designers &tradition works with are connected by a desire to push manufacturing techniques and to find innovative uses for materials. Although  influenced by their Nordic heritage, they handpick design talent and production facilities internationally and across the ages. This is part of their remit to reshape, redefine and reinvent materials, techniques and forms, helping them to find a unique position in the international design market.

“All of our designers have a unique vision and their designs have the capacity to reach people in their everyday lives,” says Martin Kornbek Hansen, founder of &tradition. “Our vision is to carry on the tradition of fine craftsmanship as well as introducing our design heritage to a new generation of conscious consumers."

Spanish artist-designer was born in Madrid in 1974. As a teenager, he submerged himself in skateboard culture and graffiti art, the foundation of the detailed, bold-yet-whimsical imagery so imminent in his work today.

After studying industrial design in Madrid and Paris he joined Fabrica in 1997, the Benetton-funded design and communication academy, working closely with the legendary image-maker and agitator Oliviero Toscani. In a short time he was promoted from student to head of their Design Department.

Eight years later, Jaime broke out on his own, first with his collections of designer toys, ceramics and furniture, later followed by interior design and installations.

All of Hayon’s designs are given great attention to detail and yet consist of very few elements. Creating each piece is an experimental dialogue - thinking in a holistic approach, discussing who we are and how we live. Hayon likes to take a human approach, while also being innovative and taking risks.

Hayon says of the FAVN sofa, "I wanted to create a form that embraces you, something really organic – that’s why we named it FAVN. At the same time I wanted to explore a technique – I always focus on techniques. It looks really simple, but yet it’s really complex."

Similarly, for the Ro chair, Hayon started with the notion of “tranquility”, which in Danish is “Ro”. The resulting curved lines are indeed restful and stylish at the same time.
